Outdoor SilhouetteMatch Director: John O'Connor - 315-651-8533 IntroductionOutdoor Silhouette is designed more for the precision shooter and is open to members and the general public. Steel silhouette targets consist of 4 animal shapes placed at varying distances. Chickens are at 40 yards, pigs at 50 yards, turkeys at 75 yards and rams sit at 100 yards. The course of fire is 10 rounds fired in two 5-shot strings with 2 minutes for each string. Shooters begin at the chickens, complete both strings, reset the targets and then move on to the pigs and so on. Scoring is based on whether your shot successfully knocked the metal animal off of the stand for a grand total of 40 points. Each shooter competes against other shooters of similar skill and the firearm used. Shooters are assigned classifications based on skill and progress through the ranks to compete against more skilled competitors. C, B, A, AA, AAA & Master are the classifications beginning at C being the lowest classification and Master being the highest. Shoots are held on the 3rd Sunday of the month, May thru September. Club Rifle is another activity within Outdoor Silhouette. Club Rifle is limited to .22LR rifle shooters only. Shooters will engage the pistol caliber size targets instead of the smaller rifle targets. As the targets are larger, they are also heavier, making hitting the target easier, but shot placement is key to knocking the target successfully off of the stand. This brings a new challenge and layer of fun to the Outdoor Silhouette match. Please check the club calendar for the upcoming match dates and times.
